The Good Doctor
By Neil Simon
Directed and Produced by Mary Ryzuk
May 2008
Literary great, Anton Chekhov's humorous newspaper articles, written in the late 19th century to pay for medical school, have been
elegantly woven together in the 20th century by Neil Simon, Broadway's master of comedy. This pastiche of funny, fast-moving scenes, with a fistful
of memorable characters, (each one loonier than the last) shows that comedy is universal and easily transcends the boundaries of nationality, ethnicity
and time. It proves, once again, that laughter is laughter in any language, no matter when or where it takes place.
